| Time For a Change #18 by Joseph Prescia When someone starts promoting “a change” in politics, many go after the new idea. The 1992 Presidential campaign was won on the theme of “change.” They convinced the public that the ideas of the old political way have not accomplished the results that we had hoped for. And you and I both know neither will the new ideas. Politics lacks the ability to zero in on the cause. It has always been the bandage on the wound. The newspapers have not helped us either and yet they are read everyday by millions of people. The news media have told us that man can not be trusted, that he murders and he steals. You just never know when someone in your neighborhood might be next. They teach fear. A person can be taught fear so much all of their life that they don’t recognize why they say and do so many fearful things. Isn’t it time that this negative, hopeless, fearful lifestyle be changed? Change is good if it lines up with the Word of God otherwise we are dealing with false hopes. Man as mere flesh and blood can not rise above God Almighty. Man’s way is not above God’s way. But God in His infinite wisdom can know what to do and when to do it. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed (or changed) by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (KJV) That’s how we change. We stop conforming to this world which includes religion and politics designed by man. We change by putting the Word of God on in our minds. We can think about godly thoughts if we are constantly reading godly words, the Bible. We can think about religion and politics if we read and trust man’s words. Man’s way has proved hopeless time and time again. But God says in the above verse to PROVE Him with “that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Seems to me if man keeps disappointing us, then there’s only one way left to try out for a change. |
