Reward the Poor?   #2
by Joseph Prescia

People are not “poor” because they lack money. They are poor because of the way they think and act. God made our human bodies with common potential having a body and a mind. Some just believe to receive more than others do. Millionaires are millionaires because they think and act like millionaires. The scriptures declare that as you believe you will receive. God’s Word is greater than man’s opinion.

Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. (KJV
)

Man tries to help the “poor” by giving them money. Politicians want to raise more money to benefit the so-called underprivileged with more social programs and greater expenses to wage earners. And yet, the scriptures tell us that “the poor you will always have with you” (Matthew 26:11). Sounds like a losing battle to me. God promises there will always be “poor” because of the way they think and act. Man on the other hand continues to say, “I want to reward bad behavior with more money.” Remember the saying, “Feed a man and he will be hungry tomorrow. Teach him to fish on his own and he will never starve.” Wouldn’t it be better to teach successful living principals? God’s Word gives the greatest standard on which to build a prosperous life. Why don’t we have the discipline to say no until that person is ready to learn on his or her own? Why reward bad behavior? Isn’t it cruel to hook a person on a steady income before they are able to decide they want and need genuine help? Giving money is such a waste because so often they do not know how to properly steward it. We surely don’t do this in other areas of our culture. When it comes to investing money we put it in the hands of those we trust to bring us back the highest yield. If they don’t, we take our business elsewhere. Why should we treat the so-called poor any differently? Why not invest the best in them by teaching prosperous principals from the Word of God and expecting a greater return on our investment? God can bring a much greater yield than man’s way can.

In the book of Genesis, Joseph sold grain to his own countrymen during a famine. He didn’t offer a free handout or social program for the “underprivileged“. He sold food to them per God’s instruction’s. And if they didn’t have money they traded for their need. As a result, Egypt became one the most prosperous countries of its time because a man of God followed God’s Word.

Reward the poor? No thank you. I will very lovingly teach individuals the Holy Scriptures because principals from the Word offer the most prosperous way for a man or a woman to live life to it’s fullest
