| Christ on Social Reform #35 by Joseph Prescia What politicians have deemed important has not been in the same ranking as that of God. It’s truly enlightening that: Jesus Christ NEVER talked about: environmental issues building new hospitals campaign finance reform the right to affordable housing Social Security and Medicare building schools teacher pay raises building a new stadium or any other political and social reform Christ always did the will of God. He was not interested in improving our social lives. He came to offer mankind a completely different life. What message did God send His only begotten son to deliver? What “issues” were deemed priority? Jesus DID speak about: mankind’s need for a savior the spiritual depth and power of holy scripture reliance upon God rather than man the need for holy spirit and it’s communication between God and man the mercy and grace of God Almighty loving God with your whole heart loving your neighbor as yourself Christ as the way, the truth, and the life This is just a partial list of the many “issues” Christ brought up. Jesus comforted them with trusting God, the Creator of the heavens and the earth. He said to seek the kingdom of God first and His righteousness and all these social concerns like food, clothing, and shelter shall be added unto you. Rather than putting the cart before the horse as politicians have done, we love God with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength and love our neighbor as ourselves. Then we will give to humanity out of strength, out of trusting and believing God at His Written Word first and foremost. A fearful person that trusts in their own way talks of Social Reform. But the one who relies upon God to meet every need has a different vocabulary based upon godly spiritual truths from the Written Word of God. America is not great because of Social Reform. The United States continues to be the greatest nation on the face of the earth because God has rewarded the faithful in Christ Jesus. |
