| Serving and Believing #38 by Joseph Prescia Bible students are constantly seeking to have “more faith.” “If only I could have more believing so that I could do more for God” they say. So often this seeker is in error because they are seeking the will of themselves rather than the will of God. It is most definitely the will of God to have faith/believing but one must be sure what the will of God is to carry out the right job at the right time. Otherwise one could look foolish. John 5:19,30 19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. 30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. (KJV) This is a major key in right action. If only politicians would listen and obey. If only school teachers and administrators would listen and obey. Then there would be no need for home schooling and term limits. Luke 17:5-6 5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. 6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you. (KJV) Jesus illustrated believing with one of the smallest of seeds, the mustard seed. He assured them that if their believing was that small they could get the right results. How does one get to the point of having that kind of believing? By making sure than one is doing the will of God. In order to KNOW the will of God one must KNOW God. They only way you can know God is to spend time with Him in reading His Word (His heart), praying, talking to Him, developing a solid relationship with Him. Then when the time comes that He needs you to do something for Him the results will be there. Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. (KJV) Doing the will of God and serving Him is a prerequisite to believing. Once you are absolutely sure what the will of God is then believing Him becomes very easy; as easy as simply carrying out the requested task. So, in order to be accurate in doing the will of God one must have a solid, intimate relationship with the Almighty. |
