| Legislating Morality is a Religion #39 by Joseph Prescia Every politician has a doctrine upon which they govern. The source of their belief could be either godly or pagan or a combination thereof. So no matter if their doctrine is labeled, Christian, Democrat, Republican, Moderate or other, they still have a personal doctrine and it is their religion. Any laws that are enacted from their beliefs are most definitely religious. Laws that restrict our freedoms are contrary to freewill. “This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safe, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future.” Adolf Hitler 1935 Legislating morality is a religion, no matter who prescribes it. It very often eliminates freewill and makes government your god and the laws that are passed your bible. Politicians feel an obligation to carry out what they believe the voters elected them to do. Yet they neglect what the Creator of the heavens and the earth has to say. They neglect to carry out His will and their election by the public is simply a symptom of a decaying moral climate. A congressman from Texas has a valid point. "If we stuck to the Constitution as written, we would have: no federal meddling in our schools; no Federal Reserve; no U.S. membership in the UN; no gun control; and no foreign aid. We would have no welfare for big corporations, or the "poor"; no American troops in 100 foreign countries; no NAFTA, GATT, or "fast-track"; no arrogant federal judges usurping states rights; no attacks on private property; no income tax. We could get rid of most of the cabinet departments, most of the agencies, and most of the budget. The government would be small, frugal, and limited." - Congressman Ron Paul (1998) Since September 11th, 2001 our freedoms continue to erode because of fear. Lack of trust in God will continue to yield to man’s way of dealing with life. Fear enslaves and the laws that are motivated by fear enslaves. Every doctrine that man has schemed on his own can be classified as a religion. Religion is in direct opposition to the will of God because it leaves God out of the picture. America needs to be spiritually awakened from the dark direction that it is heading. May more be able to see how the written way of God from the Bible with its freedoms extended by our Constitution bring a simple, shackle-free life, with the fullest of dignity. |
