Politically Incorrect Christ   #40
by Joseph Prescia

Why is there so much debate about who to send to the Whitehouse, Congress and the Supreme Court? Because mankind wants these places established in his own ideals. Rather than God’s heart living in their heart they would prefer to have their own wisdom reign as king.

The Bible is God’s standard. Anything else is second-rate at best. Jesus Christ did not come to establish his own ideology or man’s ideology but came to promote his Father’s heart from the written Word of God. During the opening chapters of his ministry Christ confronted the Devil in the wilderness with the words “It is Written” three times. The promotion was not for man, but for God and His written Word. Christ did not promote social injustice. There is not a single law that our Congress has promoted in recent years that would agree with what Christ promoted! How do I know this? Because when you read and study the scriptures you know what God wants. The Bible is open to all.

I recently read a headline that prided itself in human worship. The headline read “First black to compete for ‘Miss Germany’ title.” You see mankind is still stuck on improving his own flesh. Scripture says “The flesh profits nothing.” Politics is man’s religion and anything that promotes man above God and His spirit profits nothing. Matthew Henry makes the following observation:

“...so without the quickening Spirit of God all forms of religion are dead and worthless.”

Politics is a religion. Passing laws to satisfy man’s guilt profits nothing. Passing laws in an attempt to correct an injustice profits nothing. Man forgets that he is subject to a higher law, the law of God in Christ, providing a life-giving spirit. Christ came to make a more abundant spiritual life available. Human perfection can never enter into the spiritual realm. Only until a man or woman realizes that they need God’s help will they make Jesus Christ lord and receive a life-giving spirit. Up until this time they are lord of their own life of flesh and blood that is destined to die.

Man so often fails to see how to integrate the Word of God into their everyday life. For many it’s simply an intrusion into their daily routine. But when a man or woman gets entirely sick of the failures and disappointments of the flesh, the broken promises of religion and politics, which God guarantees will happen again and again, these individuals can turn to God with great hope and trust. God promises to supply our every need. His generosity is so grand that He even supplies needs that we didn’t know that we had. I thank God for the politically incorrect Christ because he is the only way.

"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
John 6:63 (NKJV)
