| It’s About Righteousness #54 by Joseph Prescia It does not primarily matter who is in the Whitehouse, who controls Congress, or who the government leadership in your home state is. A far weightier question is “who heads your spiritual life?” To merely physically exist while here upon earth is a sad way to throw a precious life away. There’s more to life than just flesh and blood because life is spiritual. You will either be ruled by God or by Satan, not by who’s in the Whitehouse. The choice you make to be ruled by will depend upon your source for guidance. Years ago I believed that I was unworthy to receive anything of great merit from God, that life was just a constant daily conflict filled with varying degrees of bad news, that I was alone in this struggle and that it got no better than my own ability. How sad! It wasn’t until God’s purpose was explained to me that I realized what God had been waiting for all my life. I learned of this life changing reality from the following verses. Romans 10:9-10 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (KJV) You see it’s about righteousness. You receive this righteousness spiritually when (1) you confess Jesus as lord and (2) when you believe God raised him from the dead. Righteousness can be defined as both “right standing” (spiritually) and “right living (physically).” Because of what God has done for us in Christ we obtain a right standing first. Then we can live rightly in our walk. No one in political office can be a great example compared to Christ. It says to make Christ “lord.” He is our example. Romans 3:22-23 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (KJV) All in political office have sinned and come short of the glory of God including you and me. But the righteousness of God is by the believing in Jesus Christ. If you want a right relationship with God then you will need to seek righteousness through Christ. If you want what’s best for our country you will need to seek righteousness. Proverbs 14:34 34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. (KJV) The key is to live more righteously than more sinfully. Whatever you put into your heart will come out in your actions. A reading diet rich in God’s Holy Word will yield greater results than if you elected to never open the book. The choice is yours to make while our country is still relatively free. Why not leave a priceless inheritance to your children and grandchildren: your example of righteous living with God. |
