God Supplies All Need   #55
by Joseph Prescia

When you look at the attempt of man to give man his own security it’s down right laughable. Lawmakers try to eliminate the fear of not having our needs met with new government programs. You can so turn your back on God that those things that have replaced God become idolatry. You can not serve God and man (Matthew 6:24).

Some possible ways of idolatry:
Socialism-Social Security, Medicare, Food Stamps, guaranteed paychecks, etc.
Religion-man’s way as opposed to God’s way
Politics-actually another religion
Money-when loved above God
Government-to supply needs instead of God
Man-reliance upon self instead of God

God put real love into the problem of sin. He solved it by giving His only begotten son. Lazy people do not want to put real love and time into a problem to solve it. They would rather quickly pay someone else to handle it for them. That’s where the government has filled the natural need of man when man refuses to go to God. Then man has the audacity to complain about the lack of results they get from government. When one really trusts God at His Word there are no complaints. God delivers above and beyond what one could ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).

When the children of Israel left the bondage and slavery of Egypt God sent them into the wilderness where there was no food or water. He did this to protect them from the enemy and to teach them to trust Him. He provided a need where there was none to be found. He gave them enough manna to last one day at a time to teach them to trust Him. And yet America is so prosperous that our culture worries about money years in the future for retirement (Social Security). If God can provide for Israel one day at a time and He’s the Lord and changes not (Malachi 3:6), why worry about government programs? These programs are just filling the fears and worries that only God can provide.

If mankind keeps disappointing us then there’s only one way left to try for a change. If you are motivated for a change in an election year consider God’s Word and do it. Don’t vote in any more false promises for prosperity or sympathy. If you think you have a better way than God does then you pay for it. Your fears are selfish and you have no moral right to ask others to pay for your fears. Get healed from your fears by reading His Word.

Anything that stands between you and God only gives false hope. God’s love casts out fear (I John 4:18). He supplies all our need (Philippians 4:19) and nothing should stand in the way of trusting Him.
