Can the Dead Speak?   #56
by Joseph Prescia

There was a program on ABC recently called Contact: Talking to the Dead. The show claimed to have made contact with the dead via a medium named George Anderson. The moderator tells the viewers to make up their mind as to whether this is true or not. Yet they offered no one to really refute George’s claims, only slanted coverage of those who supported it. These supporters were convinced because they said that the medium revealed personal things that no one else could know about. They have been deceived.

Can the dead speak? No, but devil spirits can mimic those who have died. Devil spirits know of personal habits while that person was alive that only close friends and relatives know about. Then when a medium like George Anderson says he’s contacting the dead he is simply talking with devil spirits, not the dead, revealing these personal secrets. Mediums sucker innocent, emotional friends and relatives, hungry for any comfort, into believing that they are talking to their dead loved ones. How disgustingly deceptive! The Word of God says that the dead are dead until Christ returns. (Genesis 3:19, Psalms 146:4, I Corinthians 15:51-57, Hebrews 9:27,28)

Ecclesiastes 9:5,6,10 5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. 6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun. 10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. (KJV)

The Devil’s purpose in deceiving innocent people is to keep the fascination upon his medium and his lying devil spirits rather than the one true God and His son, Jesus Christ. The Word of God is the standard upon which to arrive at truth and error, not experience. Information based only upon experience can contradict the Scriptures and mediums rely heavily upon experience. If the dead are alive then why does the Word of God say that Jesus Christ will need to come back and raise them from the dead? The following will happen when Christ comes back at which time both the dead and alive in Christ will have plenty to talk about and not until then.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. (KJV)
