The Stability of our Times   #69
by Joseph Prescia

Political doctrine is NOT the stability of our times. That doctrine may come in several flavors: Social Security, democracy, republicanism, etc. These ideas, concocted by man, continue to change and have not eliminated man’s fear. Even with the great strength of a national military and local police officers, Americans continue to fear what might happen in their own neighborhood. But there’s a doctrine that does not change, that’s ever constant, which builds trust in God and continues to thrive long after man’s death.

Psalm 27:1,3 1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? 3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. (KJV)

God gives light and protection to nations who seek Him. To properly seek God one must do more than go to church on Sunday. One must study God’s written Word in order to see and believe the solidarity of God. The news media is fueled by change, but God is a solid rock and is unchanging (Malachi 3:6).

Isaiah 33:6 And he (God) will be the stability of your times, abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is his treasure. (RSV)

America is the new Promised Land of our day and time. Men and women were inspired to establish a nation where believers could worship freely. In addition, our founding fathers drew up a Constitution to protect us from ourselves. But God gave us His written Word so that we could live our lives to the fullest potential. New inventions come to nations guided by God. Prosperity is the by-product of those loving God with their whole heart, soul, mind and strength. Someone once said, “
When you have nothing but God, you will find that God is enough” (author unknown).

A Biblical message to other nations around the world is, “What are you building upon?” If it’s gold, physical power, intellectualism, politics or religion, you are going to fail again and again. But if on the other hand, you have a solid foundation, a rock, a chief cornerstone not shaken by the winds of change, then you will be unmovable and able to stand like America giving glory to God.

1 Corinthians 3:10-11 10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. (KJV)

Jesus Christ, as the head cornerstone, is a foundation that is unmovable. It’s no secret that America is the envy of the world. America is great because God is great. As a nation we have chosen the right God. God, His Word and Jesus Christ are the stability of our times.
