Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth
not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth. II Timothy 2:15

Choice?
by Jack Northart

Throughout history it has been documented that nations that embrace sexual perversion find themselves going into captivity. The end result is economic, social and moral decay and ruin. The Romans and the Greeks are two such examples. The problems that our country is faced with are nothing new. The Adversary has worked in each millennium to destroy one nation after another by this method of seduction. It all begins when a nation starts to replace the one true God with false gods and idolatrous forms of worship. Why does sexual perversion have anything to do with idolatry? Let’s look at God’s Word to see what it says about this subject.

Colossians 3:5
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence
[evil desire], and covetousness, which is idolatry:

We have all probably heard the expression, “there’s no such thing and too much of a good thing.” As we see from this verse in Colossians, this statement doesn’t line up with God’s Word. Wanting more than your neighbor has, or more of something than what is required, is considered idolatry. Evil desire, meaning that which will bring hurt to others, is idolatry. Uncleanness, which is playing around with other gods, is idolatry. Ouija boards, Tarot cards, palm reading, astrology and sexual vice are only the beginning. Do we see any of these things happening in our country today? Yes, it is rampant.

The premise for our discussion of the topic of sexual perversion must be God’s Word rightly divided, not public opinion. We choose the premise that the Bible is the only ultimate authority. What is “right” is what God’s Word says is right. What is “wrong” is what God’s Word says is wrong. Likewise, with “good” and “evil”. Moral progress generally fails to keep pace with material and intellectual progress. Thus, man is usually not morally or ethically good enough for the task to which he is called because of his lack of a true knowledge of the Word of God, or lack of desire to believe God’s Word. Greed in a man’s life is the desire for exclusive possession. “Enough” for most men is more than they have. Men’s hearts are generally set on material acquisitions, but in practice happiness depends less on what they have than on what others have and they do not. A person never feels the lack of material things of which he or she has no knowledge.

I Timothy 3:1,2
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

There is a matter of callous indifference which must also be dealt with from God’s Word. The Bible refers to the person who is callously indifferent as one who has a “conscience seared with a hot iron” or one who refuses to “abhor that which is evil.” Pleasure is not always good. For example, when a person has had his or her mind seared with a hot iron regarding sexual matters, the last stages of vice have been reached, namely homosexuality. It is the lowest form of sexual vice.

Romans 1: 21-24
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves.

There is a serious flaw in the politically correct statement that “it doesn’t matter what two people do between each other as long as it doesn’t hurt anybody else.” The problem lies in the fact that it matters to God. It may not matter to people, but it does matter to the Creator of the heavens and the earth. It’s not a religious point of view. It’s not a “religious right” agenda. It’s not trying to impose “our” beliefs on someone else. It is the truth of God’s Word.

The other argument that homosexuality is “not a choice, but the way you are born,” is also contrary to what the Word of God says about it.

Romans 1: 25-31
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature [creation] more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;  Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful.

Men leaving the natural use of the woman, indicates that he elected to leave her for his own lusts. If we are to have the Word of God as our ultimate authority on matters of life and godliness, then we must acknowledge and believe what God says to us. It’s NOT being “mean spirited” as some might accuse. We simply present the truth of God’s Word to people and let them decide if they want to believe it or not.

God designed life to be lived to the fullest for us. His command in the Book of Genesis has not been rescinded.

Genesis 1:27-28
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Homosexuals cannot be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth. That is why God made humans and animals as male and female. That is not a politically correct statement, but it is true. If an entire nation were to become homosexual, that nation would die out after one generation. Why is God so adamant about people turning away from this form of sexual avarice? The answer is that it is contrary to His plan for our redemption and salvation. If Adam and Eve had been homosexual, the savior would never have been born, and the human race would have ceased to exist. Man has free will, and is therefore spiritually and morally responsible for his conduct. Man’s free will places in his hands the responsibility to direct his own life. To try and convince one whose conscious is seared with a hot iron would only be a waste of time. A man cannot be argued into believing God’s Word. It is a freewill choice. God designed men and women to be married, to be fruitful, and multiply and replenish the earth.

Hebrews 13: 4
Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

These things are important for us to understand as Christians. This subject of sexual perversion is a spiritual matter. There is no effort to mount a campaign against homosexuals. We simply reprove, rebuke and exhort them to believe God’s Word. If that person is a Christian and also wants to be a homosexual, then it is our responsibility to teach, not condemn; to love them, not hate them. As a nation of Bible-believing people, our responsibility is to keep the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ as the focal point of our praise and worship.

Psalm 33:12
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
