| Comfort When your heart is sad and lonely, And your friends seem far away, Turn to Him who is all holy, And He'll drive your cares away. When a dear one seems to fail you, When for friendship true you long, Confide in Him who is all true, And He'll right your every wrong. God's heart is your true refuge, To Him you can always flee, Even when your hopes are sinking, He then a True Friend be. He will soothe your lonely spirit, He will love and bless and say, "Come to Me and I will comfort You, today and every day." -Author Unknown |

| The People's Prayer God bless our dear United States, Preserve the land from evil fates, Lift high her banner fair and free, And guard her bounds from sea to sea. From foe without and foe within, From open shame and hidden sin, From boastful pride and greedy store, God keep our nation evermore. Forever may her friendly hands, Receive the poor of other lands, In kindliness of sisterhood, And fill their arms with ample good. Assailed by battle hosts of wrong, God help our country to be strong. Assailed by falsehood's crafty crew God help our country to be true. God hold the nation's aim sincere, God save her heart from coward fear, God prosper her in true success. And crown her head with worthiness. God bless our dear United States, Preserve the land from evil fates Lift high her banner fair and free, And ever guard her liberty. -Amos R. Wells |

| Communion with Christ By Joseph Prescia I drink the wine and eat the bread In remembrance of Christ who died in my stead The blood of Christ has cleansed me The body of Christ has healed me Stricken, afflicted, wounded and bruised Despised and rejected of men As a lamb to the slaughter, they dragged him away The Passover Lamb for our sin It's not the will of God, contrary to what they say, For sickness to remain With sin, the cause of illness gone, Wholeness has been regained God has seen fit to give out of love To those unworthy to receive The resurrection and lordship of Christ Enables all to partake who have believed I drink the wine and eat the bread In remembrance of Christ who died in my stead The blood of Christ has cleansed me The body of Christ has healed me |

| Faith’s Victory Undaunted he stands amid the wreck Of a life work wrought thru the pain, He cannot yield, or give the field, Where doubt and fear would reign. Faith cannot fail, it must prevail, He meets loss with a smile, Disaster’s sneer, gives him no fear, Faith holds the wheel the while. He has not failed, until he yields, To doubt and maddening fear, To these he will not trust the ship, Faith knows success is near. You cannot conquer faith my friend, With failure’s bludgeon strong, Faith rises victor over fear, In triumph sings its song. Faith cannot fail, it knows not how, It never learned defeat, It always fellowshipped success, It’s resting at her feet. -E. W. Kenyon |
| Freedom Freedom, my Father God, Freedom in Thee; Bondage has been my part, I must be free. Broken each vow I Make, Lost is the ground I take, Oh, for Thine own Name’s sake, Now set me free. Freedom, my Father God, Freedom in Thee; Long, long has Satan ruled, Ruled over me. Oft’ have I tried in vain, Only to fail again, Bondage gives bitter pain, Oh, set me free. Freedom, my Father God, Was bought for me; Freedom my soul shall have, I will be free. Broken each bond to-night, Freedom is worth the fight; His name gives me the right, I will be free. Freedom, my Father God, Freedom for me; My heart with rapture sings, At last I’m free. Long have I prayed for this, Craved for this Heavenly bliss, Praises are not amiss, Thank God, I’m free. -E. W. | The Word No word from God, of power is void, No idle word He’s spoken In every sentence now He lives His promise can’t be broken. A part is He, of all He’s said In every word He’s hidden The scriptures are one with Himself To feast on it we’re bidden. The very life of God indwells This word, which He has given The living word, He now makes real His word that’s fresh from heaven. O’er His word the Lord is watching And that word He will perform On this word my heart is resting While I stand amid the storm. -E. W. Kenyon |
| He Dwells in Me He dwells in me, He dwells in me, The Mighty One now dwells in me, He makes Himself reality This Mighty One who lives in me. He dwells in me, He dwells in me, The risen One now dwells in me, His resurrection power gives me The Risen One has set me free. He dwells in me, He dwells in me, The Coming One now reigns in me, The Lord of Life He is to me, This coming One will come for me. -E. W. Kenyon |

| The Old Lamp A lamp once hung in an ancient town At the corner of a street, Where the wind was keen, and the way was dark, And the rain would often beat; And all night long, its light would shine To guide the traveler’s feet. The lamp was rough and plain and old, And the storm had beaten it sore; ‘Twas not a thing one would care to show, Whate’er it been before, But no one thought what the lantern was, ‘Twas the light that, within, it bore. The lamp is a text for young and old, Who seek in a world of pride To shine for their lord and to show him forth, And never their light to hide; You are the lantern, But Christ is the light inside. -Author Unknown |
| Take Time To Pray I got up early in the morning And rushed right into the day. I had so much to accomplish That I didn’t have time to pray. Problems just tumbled around me And heavier came each task. I whined, “Why doesn’t God help me?” He said, “You didn’t ask.” I groaned and shouted and grumbled, I tried every key in the lock. I cried, “Why doesn’t He open?” He said, “Son, you didn’t knock.” So, I got up early this morning And paused before entering the day. I had so much to accomplish I had to take time to pray. -Author Unknown |
| Do It Now If with pleasure you are viewing any work a man is doing, If you like him or you love him, tell him now; Don’t withhold your approbation till the parson makes oration No matter how you shout it he won’t really care about it; He won’t know how many teardrops you have shed; If you think some praise is due him now’s the time to slip it to him, For he cannot read his tombstone when he’s dead. More than fame and more than money is the comment kind and sunny And the hearty, warm approval of a friend. For it gives to life a savor, and it makes you stronger, braver. And it gives you heart and spirit to the end; If he earns your praise-bestow it; if you like him let him know it; Let the words of true encouragement be said; Do not wait till life is over and he’s underneath the clover, For he cannot read his tombstone when he’s dead. -Berton Braley |
| The Bridge Builder An old man, going a lone highway, Came at evening, cold and gray, To a chasm, vast and deep and wide, Through which was flowing a sullen tide. The old man crossed in the twilight dim; The sullen stream had no fears for him; But he turned when safe on the other side And built a bridge to span the tide. “Old man,” said a pilgrim near, “You are wasting strength with building here; Your journey will end with the ending day; You never again must pass this way; You have crossed the chasm, deep and wide- Why build you the bridge at eventide?” The builder lifted his old gray head: “Good friend, in the path I have come,” he said, “There followeth after me today A youth whose feet must pass this way. This chasm that has been naught to me To that fair-haired youth may a pitfall be. He, too, must cross in the twilight dim; Good friend, I am building the bridge for him.” -Will Allen Dromgoole |

| It Will Show In Your Face You don’t have to tell how you live each day, You don’t have to say if you work or you play, A tried, true barometer serves in the place; However you live, it will show in your face. The false, the deceit that you bear in your heart, Will not stay inside, where it first got a start, For sinew and blood are a thin veil of lace: What you wear in your heart you wear in your face. If your life is unselfish, if for others you live, For not what you get, but how much you can give: If you live close to God, in His infinite grace, You don’t have to tell it, it shows in your face. -Author Unknown |
| The Touch of the Master’s Hand ‘Twas battered and scared, and the auctioneer Thought it scarcely worth his while To waste much time on the old violin, But held it up with a smile. “What am I bidden, good folks,” he cried, “Who’ll start the bidding for me?” “A dollar, a dollar”; then “Two! Only two? Two dollars, and who’ll make it three? “Three dollars, once; three dollars, twice; Going for three-” But no, From the room, far back, a gray-haired man Came forward and picked up the bow; Then, wiping the dust from the old violin, And tightening the loose strings, He played a melody pure and sweet As a caroling angel sings. The music ceased, and the auctioneer, With a voice that was quiet and low, Said, “What am I bid for the old violin?” And he held it up with the bow. “A thousand dollars, and who’ll make it two? Two thousand! And who’ll make it three? Three thousand, once, three thousand, twice, And going, and gone,” said he. The people cheered, but some of them cried: “We do not quite understand. What changed its worth?” Swift came the reply: “The touch of the master’s hand.” And many a man with life out of tune, And battered and scarred with sin, Is auctioned cheap to the thoughtless crowd, Much like the old violin. A “mess of pottage,” a glass of wine; A game-and he travels on. He is “going” once, and “going” twice, He’s “going” and almost “gone.” But the Master comes, and the foolish crowd Never can quite understand The worth of a soul and the change that’s wrought By the touch of the Master’s hand. -Myra Brooks Welch |
| There is a Place That is Higher By Geoff Dunn There is a place that is higher Where all that there is can be seen There is a place that is higher Where all that you do can succeed You'll not attain this high place By taking the road that is low You'll not reach this place swiftly By taking the road that is slow If you look at the world through dark glasses Then all that you see is in shade It is the filters we see through From this is what we are made Focus on night, you get darkness Focus on faults, you'll be frail Focus on fools, you'll get foolish Focus on sin, you will fail Focus on day, you get sunlight Focus on strengths, you'll get strong Focus on wise, you get wisdom Focus on God, you'll live long If you seek answers to questions But look only within You'll find little or nothing ?Except the dark stain of sin Set you sights much higher Look up and over the ridge Open your eyes to the Wiser Let God's thoughts be your bridge True answers abide in two places Places unknown to sin The Word of God is the first source And second, Christ's spirit within We become that which we dwell on And we mold our lives just like clay Our thoughts determine the image As we shape and reshape it each day So if you would mold in God's image Your life so that you may succeed A mind filled with God's goodness and greatness Is the bucket of tools that you need Choose only those thoughts that are lofty That confirm the greatness inside Think only those things that are righteous And in God's love you will abide Strength's not attained by the lazy Nor power to rise up and out If it's getting somewhere you'd be going Then get off your ass and get out God's throne is the place that is higher Where all that there is can be seen God's spirit active within you Is where all that you doo will succeed. | Like Father, Like Son Oh, there was a time when the higher I’d climb the farther that I’d seem to fall. I’d cry out in prayer to a God way up there and wondered if He heard me at all. But then came the day that glorious day the day when I first spoke in tongues This unknown God no stranger now I had proof we were Father and son That’s when I first wanted to know you That’s when I first wanted to believe you That’s when I first wanted to love you The way that you love me Like Father, like son. Your Word, it became all my silver and gold a fountain to quench all my thirst Yes, all you’d revealed was now mine to behold and each sip’s as pure as the first So, now I’m beginning to know you Yes now I’m beginning to believe you And now I’m beginning to love you the way that you love me like Father, like son So, now we are walking Each day finds us talking I grow closer the more that I learn There’s just one thing more that my heart’s longing for the day when your son shall return For then I will know as you know me Then I will see as you see me Then I will love as you love me Forever and ever like Father, like son.... like Father, like son. -Tom Burke |
| Mercy Came Running Once there was a holy place Evidence of God’s embrace I can almost see Mercy’s Face Pressed against the veil Looking down with longing eyes Mercy must have realized That once his blood was sacrificed Freedom would prevail And as the sky grew dark And the earth began to shake With justice no longer in the way Chorus: Mercy came running Like a prisoner set free Past all my failure to the point of my need When the sin that I carried was all I could see And when I could not reach mercy Mercy came running to me Once there was a broken heart Way too human from the start And all the years left it torn apart Hopeless and afraid Walls I never meant to build Left this prisoner unfulfilled Freedom called but even still It seemed so far away I was bound by the chains From the wages of my sin Just when I felt like giving in Chorus: Mercy came running Like a prisoner set free Past all my failure to the point of my need When the sin that I carried was all I could see And when I could not reach mercy Mercy came running to me Sometimes I still feel so far So far from where I really should be He gently calls to my heart Just to remind me -Phillips, Craig & Dean |
| New Heaven and New Earth The world is busy trying to save most anything it can Trees in South America and tuna in Japan They didn’t spare a second thought for this endangered man Cause I didn’t have a tail Well the Devil was recycling me from sin to shining sin Till I was just an empty heading for the rubbage bin But God picked me out and cleaned me up, He filled me to the brim He saved me and not a whale Cause ever since Adam the ground’s been cursed The world’s been getting worse and worse The hand of man won’t change a thing But the hand of God is gonna to bring A new heaven and new earth We’ll plug up all the smokestacks to preserve the atmosphere But the worst kind of pollution’s been around 6,000 years Getting rid of fog and smoke and smog but sin’ll still be here A stinking up the air And a hole in the ozone layer I don’t know much about But when I here that trumpet sound and hear that angel shout It’ll make it that much easier for me to float on out To my home a way up there Cause ever since Adam the ground’s been cursed The world’s been getting worse and worse The hand of man won’t change a thing But the hand of God is gonna to bring A new heaven and new earth Well this world is not my home so it’s surely not my mother God gave it to Adam who transferred it to another Environment’s just something that he uses for a cover But his lease is running out And meanwhile even though the Devil rules with iron hand And all creation’s groaning waiting for that rule to end As sons of God we reign in life as on His Word we stand And we know without a doubt That ever since Adam the ground’s been cursed The world’s been getting worse and worse The hand of man won’t change a thing But the hand of God is gonna to bring A new heaven and new earth Yeh ever since Adam the ground’s been cursed The world’s been getting worse and worse The hand of man won’t change a thing But the hand of God is gonna to bring A new heaven and new earth -Tom Burke |
| Out Beyond the Stars Well, Christ is coming back again to claim us And I’m looking for the day when he’ll appear I’ve got no inclination to go through the tribulation So, I’m taking a vacation out of here Then over to the bema we’ll be strolling To receive rewards for standing faithfully I’ve got a little hunch, I’d better pack a lunch If you’re standing in that line in front of me I want to watch the video of Joshua at Jericho And what that tree of life could be I’d surely like to know, oh Chorus: We’re going to have forever to discover All that God has given to be ours So, why don’t me and you take a century or two To dance together out beyond the stars We’ll have eternity to meet our family Let’s fry some fish with Peter and the crew Old Timothy and Paul; I want to meet ‘em all And I bet that they will want to meet us too And when the judging’s all complete There’s others that I’d like to meet I want to sing some songs with David And race Elijah down the street Chorus: We’re going to have forever to discover All that God has given to be ours So, why don’t me and you take a century or two To dance together out beyond the stars Yeh, why don’t me and you take a century or two To dance together out beyond the stars -Tom Burke |

| PENTECOST
This was truly prophesied by the prophet Joel That God would pour out his Spirit upon every living soul. With stammering lips and another tongue, read Isaiah 28:11 God shall speak unto his people, which is forever settled in heaven. Speaking in another tongue is something you will do And you will receive power after the Holy Ghost comes upon you. On the day of Pentecost, from heaven it did come They were filled with the Holy Ghost and spoke in other tongues. Devoted men everywhere, were amazed at what they had seen They spoke out loud to one another: Asking, "What does this mean"? Peter stood up with the eleven; testified to every soul As he said, "This is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel" When hearts were pricked, they asked how to be saved Peter then gave the instructions in Acts 2:38. When you receive the Holy Ghost from heaven it will come Like as a rushing mighty wind and you will speak in tongues. The gift of the Holy Ghost is a promise unto you For as many as the Lord shall call and unto your children too. I once was in darkness, but now I can see Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed? Tammy J. Winslett Pentecostal Life Church |
